MICHAEL OSTERMAN - Director of Food and Beverage
After four years in the United States Air Force Michael embarked on a restaurant career. His first position was as a Manager at a Pasadena landmark steakhouse, The Peppermill. From there he took a position with Family Restaurants Incorporated working in several of their traditional steakhouses. After a short time with them he met, and was interviewed by, Guy Fieri. That meeting turned into a Manager position with Louise’s Trattoria and training under Guy as well as the beginning of a great friendship. After training Michael was promoted to General Manager of Louise’s Brentwood restaurant. It was during his time there that he was afforded the chance to also work with Steve Gruber and Brett Hutchison. Shortly after Guy and Steve left for Santa Rosa to open Johnny Garlic’s Michael left as well, taking a Wine Specialist position with Young’s Market Company in the Los Angeles area. After three years away Michael decided it was time to get back into the restaurant game. Taking a position with Macaroni Grill he was quickly promoted to General Manager. From there he took a position with a young growing company, was once again quickly promoted and tasked to open restaurants as an Operating Partner in the Midwest. After four years Michael decided it was time to take a step back and spend more time with his family. He was offered, and accepted, the Team Chef position for the Denver Nuggets Basketball Team. For the next five years Michael handled the team’s nutrition and meal planning. In his five years there the team qualified for the playoffs every season and made a trip to the Western Conference Finals. When the Guy Fieri Road Show passed through Denver in 2009 Guy made it known to Michael that he needed to be in California with his company and not Denver. After the season ended and his team commitments were done Michael joined the Johnny Garlic’s / Tex Wasabi’s team. The chance to reunite with Guy, Steve and Brett was too much to pass up.
